Beautiful Diamond Knitting Crochet Pattern

This version includes the edge stitches in the row by row instructions Please note: there are some errors in the knitted swatch above. These have been fixed in the written pattern.

Needles:

US 3/3.25mm

Abbreviations

k = knit
yo = yarn over
k2tog = knit two stitches together

Colour Pattern

Use 6 shades of red yarn, beginning with the darkest; work 12 rows of each, 12 rows of white for the centre, then reverse the reds.

Cast on any number of stitches divisible by 24, plus 8 more for the edges

Pattern

Rows 1 – 4: knit.
Row 5: K4, *k2, yo, k2tog, k3, [yo, k2tog] twice, yo, (k2tog) twice, pass the first k2tog over the second, [yo, k2tog] twice, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 4 sts, k4
Row 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16: K4, p to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 7: K4, *k1, k2tog, yo, k3, [k2tog, yo] 3 times, k1, [yo, k2tog] twice, yo, k3, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from * to last 4 sts, k4
Row 9: K4, *k2, yo, k2tog, k1, [k2tog, yo] 3 times, k3, [yo, k2tog] 3 times, k2, yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 11: K4, *k1, k2tog, yo, k1, [k2tog, yo] 3 times, k5, [yo, k2tog] 3 times, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from * to last 4 sts, k4.
